Cannabis Marching Song, 1919

Cannabis Marching Song

The sweet cadence of a marching song echoed through time.  This one from Mexico had a little bit of cannabis soul…

Many historic marching songs have been sung by armies all over the world.  The steady rhythmic beat holding vast amounts of soldiers in stride.

Like the United States Airborne’s “Gory, Gory”, most taking a common tune, like in our example “glory, glory”, and change the words to unite the solders…

Band Of Brothers -( Gory, gory )

In the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, the Mexician soldiers on the border with the United States had a surprising tune.  The soldiers chose the song the ‘Tumble Bug’ as the marching song of choice.

In the first verse of the marching song, the soldiers use of Cannabis can be found…

“I cannot march longer,
Because there is lacking,
Mariguana to smoke.”

Hey Look at that, cannabis uniting a army…
